Terms, A to Z
The words owners use when they write a pitch, hire a writer or ask how much AI is in the writing, each defined as Wendi Henry works with it.
A
- AI copywriting
Writing business copy with an AI tool instead of a person; Wendi uses AI on some pieces and states how much on every one.
C
- Case story
A short account of one client job, told so a referral partner can pass it to a prospect accurately.
D
- Disclosed AI writing
Writing that says plainly how much of it AI produced; every piece Wendi writes carries its level on her seven-level human/AI scale.
F
- Feature presentation
The longer presentation a chapter member gives every few months, in addition to the weekly pitch.
- Freelance copywriter rates
What a freelance writer charges, per piece or per month; Wendi states her prices openly, before anyone has to ask.
G
- Generic AI
The flat, could-be-anyone sound of an AI draft nobody has edited, which an owner hears as not sounding like their business.
- Ghostwriter
A writer who writes under the owner's name; Wendi has ghostwritten pieces for clients that were published in Forbes, Yahoo Finance, Insurance Thought Leadership and BNI.
O
- One-to-ones
The one-on-one meetings between chapter members, held between chapter meetings, where a member learns enough about your business to retell it to others.
R
- Real details
The specific facts only the owner would know, which a writer checks are in the piece before it goes out.
- Referral partners
The members of your chapter who pass your business to people they know, and who can do it well only when they have plain words for what you do.
- Repurposing
Turning one finished long piece into four to six short posts, each traced to the passage it came from.
S
- Seven-level human/AI scale
Wendi's way of stating how much AI went into a piece: Reviewed, Edited, Coached, Together, Drafted, Iterated or Generated, set for each piece and stated on the work.
- Sounds like us
The test an owner puts to AI-assisted writing: would a customer know it came from this business? Wendi checks each piece against the owner's voice profile.
V
- Voice profile
A written record of how the owner talks, built in the first month from an interview or from Wendi's own research on the business, and owned by the client.
W
- Weekly pitch
The short pitch a member gives at every chapter meeting, telling the room what the business does and who to refer.
- Working Agreement
The document Wendi is writing to set down her privacy and terms; it is not published yet, so nothing in it is in force until it is.
- Writing principles
Wendi's written principles for good business writing, applied to every piece whatever tool helped draft it; the list is not published yet.
- Writing retainer
A monthly arrangement for a set number of long pieces from one writer; Wendi's is month to month, and unused pieces do not roll over.
